Where we're going.
Today, the thriving city of Leavenworth has a population of over 35,000 residents. We're home to the United States Army's Fort Leavenworth, Saint Mary College, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary.Downtown Leavenworth has kept the city's small town historic atmosphere through it's preservation of many of the original buildings, architecture and vintage homes that graced the landscape in the early 1900's. Looking forward, we have new leadership in place who are tackling a major redevelopment project called the Technological Park. The Preliminary Preferred Direction Overview for the Downtown Leavenworth-North Leavenworth Redevelopment Plan has been delivered. You can review it here.
May through October, the City is host to a number of outdoor activities including Farmers Market at Haymarket Square in downtown Leavenworth on Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.
